For those who celebrate, I hope you have a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I want to thank my loyal readers for consistently reading Coaching Contemplations. And a big welcome to any new readers. I enjoy researching and writing articles and look forward to continuing to grow the audience and build quality connections with my readers in 2025.
It won't surprise you that writing is central to my coaching practice. I write extensively and view it as a process by which we improve our thinking and learning. Writing helps me figure things out. Elizabeth King's powerful quote, "It is only process that saves us from the poverty of our intentions," continues to guide my work with my clients.
I have started writing my next book on Accidental Managers and hope to make significant progress during 2025. It is hard to be a manager. Without a lot of luck, it is almost impossible to become a good one with a sink-or-swim approach, which often harms those around you, including yourself. This is the premise of the book. Watch out for updates in the newsletter and LinkedIn throughout next year.
I have attached links to my favourite Coaching Contemplations for each month of 2024. It is hard to believe another year has passed. If you are resting over the new year or have a journey to complete, read the theme pieces from 2024 that I am most proud of:
January: The Power of Focus: Leadership in the Age of Distractions
February: Apocalyptic Leadership: Steering Clear of the Four Horsemen
March: The Power of Clarity: Mastering the Art of Impeccable Agreements
April: Navigating the New Workplace: Mastering Deep Work and Self-Awareness
May: 80% of what you want probably comes from 20% of what you do
June: The Arrogance Equation: How Confidence Without Competence Undermines Leaders
July: Mastering Brevity and Clarity in Leadership Communication and Decision-Making
September: The Accidental Manager: A Crisis in Leadership
October: Beyond the Trends: What Won't Change in Management
November: Beyond Mentorship: The Hidden Flaws in Management Training
December: The Courage to Think Differently: Challenging Workplace Dogmas
I wish you all a fantastic 2025. Here is my annual review process to help you get off to the best possible start. It has three steps: REFLECT, PLAN, and EXECUTE.
REFLECT asks questions such as:
What did I learn this year, and how could I use this in the year ahead?
What new things did I discover this year?
What do I wish I had said no to but didn't?
PLAN helps you to create development and input-focused goals to help you succeed in the year ahead.
EXECUTE reminds you that monitoring progress against your goals in 2025 will help reduce the noise and distractions that inevitably will build up around you at work.
Thanks Robert for all that you do and that you share so generously with your audience. Wishing you a wonderful end to the year and a lot of momentum into 2025 for your next book.
