2023 Recap and Short Note
For those who celebrate, I hope you had a fantastic Christmas, and I wish you a Happy New Year.
I want to thank my loyal readers for consistently reading Coaching Contemplations. And a big welcome to any new readers. I enjoy researching and writing the articles and look forward to continuing to grow the audience and build quality connections with my readers in 2024.
It won't surprise many of you that writing is central to my coaching practice. I write extensively and view it as a process by which we improve our thinking and learning. Writing is the process that helps me to figure things out. And the powerful quote by Elizabeth King, "It is only process that saves us from the poverty of our intentions", continues to guide the work I do with my clients.
I hope to publish my second book in 2024, "Before You Step Into The Office - How Focusing on Leadership Early Can Set the Stage for Career Success." The genesis for the book idea came from one of my LinkedIn posts earlier in 2023 that attracted over 20k impressions and numerous comments. I knew I had hit a nerve, and so the journey began. Watch out for book updates in the newsletter and LinkedIn over the next few months.
I have attached links to my favourite Coaching Contemplations for each month of 2023. It is hard to believe another year has passed. If you are resting over the new year or have a journey to complete, read some of the theme pieces from 2023:
January: Sorry, Messi fans. Football is a weak-link team sport
February: Insecure Overachievers
March: Who, not What
April: What does winning look like?
May: Leadership development starts too late.
June: Personal reflections and barriers to entry
July: Where were all the coaches when...
September: Mastering Decision-Making in Uncertain Times
October: Preemptive Leadership
November: The High Cost of Low Self-Awareness in Leadership
December: Career Trip Hazards
I wish you all a fantastic 2024, and to help you get off to the best possible start, here is my Annual Review Process that I documented for the first time one year ago.
